Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will issue the stamp theme “50^th Anniversary of the Inauguration of Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge” on 5^th October, 2024.

The Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, named after the then Governor Nobre de Carvalho, was inaugurated on 5^th October 1974. It was the first sea-crossing bridge connecting the Macao Peninsula and the island of Taipa. It was also once the world’s longest continuous prestressed-concrete girder bridge at the time of completion. The unique design and significance of the Bridge made it one of the design elements of the regional flag and regional emblem of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

The Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge has a beautiful outlook, a unique and appealing shape, with simple and spectacular lines. For designers, the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge is not only a sea-crossing bridge, but also an architectural work of art. For years, the Bridge has attracted visitors from all over the world to enjoy its beauty and take photos of it.

This issue includes a set of two stamps. The first stamp shows a daytime view of the Bridge from Macao, with a panoramic view of the Bridge’s highest point and the modern landscape of Taipa. The second stamp shows the view of Macao Peninsula from Taipa, with the lights of the Bridge complementing the enchanting night, highlighting the splendor and prosperity of Macao. Whether it is the leisurely vibes during the day or the glittery night lights at sunset, one can feel the unique charm of the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge.

The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office (9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m.), the Communications Museum (9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m.). The mail service for the philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark of this issue will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer of this issue is Mr. Sun Chi Lon, and the text of the information brochure is written by The Public Works Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.
