Stamp Issue “Lunar Year of the Snake”
03/01/2025 15:30
Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will release the sixth issue of the fourth series of Chinese Zodiac philatelic products with the stamp theme “Lunar Year of the Snake” on
5th January, 2025. The snake is a symbol of the beautiful wishes of the Chinese people, which are embodied into a universal feeling of equality and harmonious coexistence. On the occasion of the Lunar Year of
the Snake, the exquisite commemorative stamps are issued to wish for world peace, and the wishes of peace and happiness are extended to Chinese people all over the world!
The conceptual design of the fourth series is based on the four seasons. This issue includes a set of four stamps. The stamps vividly depict different postures of snakes in the style of traditional Chinese ink painting. The patterns on
the bodies of the snakes are integrated with traditional Chinese decorative motifs. Combining the representative colours and elements of spring, summer, fall and winter, the stamps capture the changing, lively and joyful images of
snakes with modern design techniques.
The souvenir sheet uses red, a symbol of joy and propitiousness in traditional Chinese culture, as its background, with patterns of auspicious clouds, copper coins and the Sun. The spiritual snake either meanders or twists and turns,
welcoming spring and celebrating Chinese New Year.
The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office (9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m.), and the Communications Museum (9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., 2:30p.m. to 5:30p.m.). The mail service for the philatelic products cancelled with the
